Yes, “The Love Machine” was one of the biggest movie bombs of 1971 – does it deserve it?

John Phillip Law was “The Love Machine”, looking very much like an “American Psycho” Christian Bale…this film was supposed to make him a superstar, but the huge box office bomb did just the opposite…
Dyan Cannon also starred in the film, which was clearly the “Fifty Shades” of its day.
The source novel sold 4½ million paperback copies in one month and set all-time records as a hard-cover book!
